handover

Background:
Strawberry is leaving the company and Starfruit will be taking over her duties. Handover period was 5 days because their superior Jackfruit took quite sometime in recruiting.

Scene 1: Strawberry taught Starfruit on Day One some of the job routine & procedures and also her filing system. She taught Starfruit the invoicing system which took Starfruit consecutively 3 days to pick up after hands-on whereas Strawberry's co-partner (her back-up) just took 20 mins..

Scene 2: Strawberry taught her the calculation of sales commission which is quite hard to handle as it take some experience & knowledge of the sales product in the company and there are a lot of guide-lines to follow. As Strawberry was really worried for Starfruit because Starfruit also has no relevant experience, therefore she asked her to try it hands-on first, doing it as a trial practice. Starfruit just skimmed through it hastily and look forward to Strawberry to proceed on from there for her.

Scene 3 : Strawberry taught Starfruit how to pass the Deferred Income, accrued revenue and related journal entries, how to update the balance sheet spreadsheet to pass GL entries on Day Two and Day Three, Starfruit went rattling "okayokay" jotting down notes happily, On Day five, maybe Starfruit suddenly felt panicky (perhaps the real sense of urgency finally hit her), demands to learn more about it, eventually she starts asking: " Can you do now first for this month??, just do now, together now lah!", Strawberry was amused at her words, the journal entries are always passed in month-end for period closing, how could she not know that? How can she just want to push away her duties & responsibilities and avoid to put the starting step out to try...

Scene 4: Strawberry taught Starfruit on Day One her entire filing system. She told her how to match her Invoice with SO and then DO.. On Day Two, Strawberry was worried Starfruit might forgot how to do it because she recalled Starfruit never jot down anything nor tried matching the documents herself, so she asked her "Oh yah, do you know how to match the invoices?" and Starfruit stared coldly at the un-filed documents and replied," Yeah, I think so, just match the numbers right?".. On Day Five, Starfruit asked Strawberry, "Eh, how to match the invoices? I don't know, I think I better do hands-on so that I know".. After Strawberry matched & file 2 invoices to show her, the next minute, Starfruit points bluntly at the remainder around 10-15 un-filed and exclaimed: "How come there's still so many haven't filed? Can you filed it all yourself before you go?" Strawberry was pissed.. She thought to herself bitterly: Who was the one holding up her time for the past five days? How could She have time when she was doing explanation for 8 hours for a straight 5 days? Did she heard wrongly on the part that someone silly named Starfruit proclaimed she wants to do Hands-on? Who the heck was she to tell her this when even Strawberry's Senior practice was to accumulate the recent invoices first before filing because different documents need some time to get back to her, and by filing without matching would be Stupid as its more time-consuming. Strawberry didn't bother to debate with her anymore. She has come to know "her pattern"... These few scenes listed were just SOME of the entire 5 day episode that Strawberry was so exhausted from.. there were so much more than that.. Anyway, That was the LAST straw... She angrily took all the documents to file in another desk and left the Starfruit alone..

handphone impact

I was suppose to meet my goodfriend for Shopping this afternoon but as I was halfway through the train journey, I realized I had forgot to bring my handphone along! This is not the first time I forgot to bring it out and normally I wouldn't considered it a big deal, but as this meeting was not scheduled properly, we did not specify a meeting point for meetup.. It was merely a "lets meet up at Bugis at 3.15pm" thingy... Oh dear!.. What was I thinking about? Bugis is so big.. She's taking bus or train?? I'm not even sure... It got me really anxious as I considered my options.. Going back to retrieve my life-saver phone? I would be supersuper late then if I do so & its pretty time-consuming & I will probably have to take a cab there from my place else she might erupt? (no, she's not so hot-tempered but I don't feel good keeping friends waiting for so long) definitely costly.. I ....erm.. I ... I could contact her by calling her handphone using the public phone? nope I can't.. all thanks to the convenience of my handphone, I have not bothered to remember my friend's handphone number.. (yeap..I would have remembered if I bothered but I don't =P)... not only hers but all of the other numbers, unless for a reason.. I would just store & saved it happily and rely on my phone directory completely.. But luckily, as she's my long term close pal since Secondary school, I do remember her house number.. U know in those times where we don't own handphones yet, I did bothered to remember her home number.. I got out and went the nearest coin booth (I don't own phonecards either) at the train station.. Of course she has already left her house but as I predicted, her mother was there and I passed the message to her embarrassingly.. We did manage to meet up after all... =)

After this incident, I make a mental note on the following..
1) Make an effort to remember my friend's contact number by heart, not to always rely on the directory, Unhealthy!
2) Start jotting a backup list of my contacts since I can't recall when was the last time I did that (you know, in case maybe the next time I could have lost my handphone instead of just forgetting to bring it out)
3) Do not laugh at friends who own phonecards, it might come in handy..

test drive

Jean keep urging me to go the test-drive at Leng Kee, Cycle & Carriage.. since I've been eyeing on my own transport means for awhile, on one fine evening, I finally obliged.. There are actually several reasons why I'm considering my own transportation mean, mainly due to the travelling between work and school, (one in the east & one in the west) Super inconvenient! 3 times a week & no matter how on time I stepped out of my office, I am always LATE for school.. rushing to get out of ur office isn't the easiest (or nicest) thing to do either.. if it is just one day out of the whole week is fine, but at almost 3 days per 5 days work-week u gotta hurry, its too tedious & abrupt.. Another reason perhaps is due to the train & bus rides which I am getting a slight phobia on.. It's dumb but I'm really disgusted by the sickening uncles who love to squeeze with you on a slightest-packed trains! I mean most gentleman would not squeeze with you even if its crowded and they will avoid being in physical contact with the ladies esp on sensitive areas namely the bum or boobs but these indecent uncles are freaking me! They love to.. Perhaps hear your breathing? Taking up a lot of space when its possible to keep their limbs to themselves? Brushed you with super redundant big actions?.. Ha.. Jean say I should b flattered but please! She don't know them! I know they would do that to any kind of female species.. As long as its female.. arrrgghh..and also not forgetting this friend who stalked me from Commonwealth to Tanah Merah MRT when i alrdy asked him not to.. arrgghhh more...

Back to the ride.. Being the first time handling an auto car & also a first time ever since I passed my driving test, I warned my passengers to be prepared for sitting in a car with such a amateur driver.. Everything was much smoother then I thought, the car was surprisingly easy to handle, tempting me to cut the deal on the spot..Its the cheapest humble new car there and we have also worked out the cost of it long ago but still I'm not that decisive.. This is too big of a liability for me to decide on the spot eventhough before the drive, alot of information for the car was already furnished by Jean..I still couldn't make up my mind to sign then.. I ponder on it for the next few days ..

another weekend

The weekend flies so fast mainly due to my Saturday class, my appointment at the hair-salon, some Shopping and KTV session, plus trying my very best to complete my DVDs in order to return to Emiline in time..
Yeap finally I had my hair done this time as my friend showed me some of the pictures of his winning entry in the hair-styling competition he had participated earlier in June. Quite Trendy and pretty I should say and if friends of mine wanna do hair.. I will definitely recommend him... Anyway he wasn't half as chirpy as his usual self because he revealed he had some relationship problems.. ( 1st time see him so grumpy)..So I tried my best to encourage him , asked him to use his sincerity to move his gal but as I don't know her, there isn't any much good advice I can give him.. Hopefully next time I hear from him, they will be fine already..

Since I already spend so much on Friday & have to pay from some school membership renewal fee or whatever ( that is so expensive- up to $700?) , weekend shopping I decided to cut it to the most minimal.. My dear friend shopping with me was indeed helping me achieve that.. As I wanted very much to buy a red cap since I already had a white one, I went on and tried all the red caps I came across.. From addidas, nike to puma & all the whatever other brands I have never heard before... He simply says all not suitable for me!..shaking his head from time to time... hahaa can really strangle him on the spot you know.. haha.. but he says perhaps its the red color that he dislikes (or maybe my big head.. haha).. Nvm.. I would get it at another time.. without him..

cancelled appt leads to the princess diary

hmmm... Last night, my hair-dresser disappoint me again.. had to cancel my appt with him because his place was too packed, and abit too late.. cancelled for the second time in a row! haha, cannot blame him also because it's partly my fault.. always choosing the peak periods to visit.. but when he's not busy, its my turn to be.. Since he's a friend and I can't bear to let anyone else touch my hair nowadays.. I shall wait (Despite the fact that recently my hair seems to be looking so sad & moody)..

Alternatively my only Plan B for the sudden free evening was to just head straight home and watch my DVD. Certainly not well-planned, but slightly better than nothing to do.. From the supplies of DVDs courtesy of my generous colleague Emiline, I pulled out the one I haven't watched before- "The Princess Diaries 2 - Royal Engagement" (no, I never caught princess diary 1).. Emiline has been filling me with other DVD titles such as " Shall we dance" "Wimbeldon" "Under the Tuscan Sun" "A Cinderella Story".. not forgetting almost the whole series of Sex & the City (from 1st to the 6th seasons) which I truly enjoyed..
I wasn't expecting anything much from this Princess Diary anyway and seriously speaking, I kinda dislike the term "Princess"..as I always thought it is abit too fairytale.. & girlish, & childish..& superficial &, &, & you know, like not so genuine..(I admit im tom-boyish) but surprise surprise.. the Queen-to-be in this show for me was actually quite down-to-earth and so much more likeable than I would have thought.. In fact, kind of change my opinion & dislike for this term..
Not that the show was that inspiring, but I do like the main Character, Amelia because of the way she acts in the different circumstances.. her Courage & Kindness was the true beauty & I actually don't detest this term so much anymore.. anyway Im not recommending this show.. just saying its "watchable"..

testing..

silly me!..im jus testing on how to post pictures on the blog... ok.. so that's it!... quite easy!.. ta da!...

this is just a sample posting only.. hmmm.. can start posting more pictures in future already.. not dat I have much to post because I seldom take pictures.. Anyway the above is one of my fav Japanese actress if you r wondering who is she.. Love her looks!

pregnant mummies

Im surrounded by 2 pregnant colleagues in my company... one due this august 05, the other, my dear accts partner who's due next Feb 06 (a doggy baby too! =P ). I wouldn't say Im really close to them, but my partner has already been working with me for awhile and I definitely feel so anxious & overwhelmed with joy for her first baby. Topics surrounding babies & mother-care was inevitable during lunch as I listened patiently learning n picking as much as I could. I try to picture her being heavy with the big round tummy and cant help feelin all excited & delighted all over again each time.. I can tell she will be a good mummy because she's a diligent, hardworking, careful and nice-tempered woman.. Hardly gossipy or scheming or grouchy at all.. butbutbut... As much as I wanna see the gradual growth of the cute baby & mummy, I will actually be leaving them soon.. very soon.. haiz.. disappointed & slightly sad wor.. abit bothered by it..
nevertheless.. Auntie Stranger wil have to try to keep the contact & find means to dig info of the baby here & there.. & pray for arrival of her healthy cutie 2006 baby!

a new school term

the new school term starts again! so reluctant to drag myself to the faraway school... Took a cab to pamper the sickly me.. ha! Cant imagine going back to dis hectic schedule between work & classes but it is really happening lah...(the only brightening thing is seeing my old classmates =) okie) .. This new subject Im gonna conquer for the term is MSM.. Upon hearing the draggy Introduction from my lecturer David, I was already quite convinced I will not fare well.. Look at the amount of maths involve here! haizz... Formulation & equation stuff... Hell.. The only Maths I'm able to score for a long time, is the Primary 4 challenging problem solving sums... Hopefully miracles do happen & definitely extraextra efforts have to be put in.. 3 hrs of lectures seemed so painfully long but this is only the beginning..

Home was already like after 11pm last nite as I caught the results show on TV of the locally-hosted singing competition Superstar.. results were pretty upsetting but was very much predicted.. no matter how the judges criticizes or praises.. Anyone will still have a chance of getting through the next round thanks to a controversy voting system..

three in the morning

Stranger was browsing some other blogs and caught something interesting & not too lengthy.. so she copied it here to share:

Three in the Morning
A keeper of monkeys said that each monkey was to have three chestnuts in the morning and four at night. But the monkeys were very angry at this; so the keeper said they might have four in the morning and three at night, with which arrangement they were all well pleased. The actual number of the chestnuts remained the same, but there was an adjustment to meet to the likes and dislikes of those concerned. Such is the principle of putting oneself into subjective relation with externals.

Therefore a wise man, while regarding contraries as identical, adapts himself to the laws of nature. This is called following two courses at once.
